go to the bank or there are sites on-line where you fill out an application (really easy — they look at your income, how much $ you have to put down) and they will call to work with you on getting a loan.

I would ask people that you know (that own a home) which mortgage company they went through. That way you know you’re going through a trustworthy company. Then just call to set up an appointment and ask what information you need to bring for the application process. My lender was very helpful.
