Banks and lenders don’t make unsecured loans in that amount. Credit cards are unsecured loans, so requesting lower interest rates, and transferring some of the current balances to lower interest cards may be your best bet. Also, consider a second job to put all that toward the current debt. If you have no assets and that much debt, you are a good candidate for bankruptcy. It’s not to be taken lightly, but sometimes there just in not another realistic choice.

Its going to depend highly on your credit rating. if you are over 750, yeah sure it can happen. Unfortunately, in these times, unless your credit is awesome, it is going to be very hard to find someone who will give you that kind of money unsecured. Debt consolidation is generally a rip off, meaning it doesn’t really exist for most people. It tends to make the problem worse, not better.
Look at is this way: If your problem is debt, more debt is not going to solve the problem.
Let me give you a wake up call: the general rule of thumb for unsecured debt is maximum of 10% to 25% of average annual income for the last 2 years. Many people are “in trouble” now, because the “banks” allowed people to go way beyond these rules for a few years. Now they are pulling back, hard.
To get $140,000 unsecured in most cases you would need an average annual income in the $500,000 to $750,000 range.
If you don’t have perfect credit (FICO 760+), your odds of getting any good (rate) unsecured loan in excess of 20% of your salary are close to zero in the current credit market.
